Ms. Shabana Yusuf, Humanities Educator

Ms. Yusuf is the 6th Grade Humanities Educator at Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem. She was born in Guyana (in South America), but, was raised in the Bronx. She attended CUNY Lehman College and completed a Bachelor's Degree in English: Creative Writing with a minor in History. She remained at Lehman College for another two years to complete her Masters in History. Most recently, she finished a Masters of Science in Teaching at Fordham University for English Language Arts 7-12th General Education. Currently, she is working on completing a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language with a specialization in Korean Language Speakers. Some of her hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, and studying Korean in her spare time. This year she is looking forward to introducing students to new and diverse Young Adult literature.

Ms. Jessica Bouret, Humanities Educator
Ms. Jessica Bouret is the 7th Grade Humanities Educator at Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem. She was born and raised in the South Bronx. She attended Urban Assembly for careers in Sports. There she participated in Outward Bound, Soccer and College Summit.  She attended Lehman College in the Bronx and received her Bachelors in English Literature with a minor in middle and high school education. She is now studying at Fordham University for her Masters in Education for English grades 7-12th. She is currently a Teach for America Corp Member and also the co-founder of By Your Side Tutoring. She is currently working with By Your Side Tutoring to sponsor children in Montefiore hospital. She looks forward to teaching our scholars the power of expressing themselves both in writing and speech, empowering them to demonstrate the educated leaders that they are.
