Mr. Shadrack Sakyi, Math Educator

Mr. Sakyi is the sixth-grade math educator. Prior to 2017, he served as the eighth-grade math educator. He is originally from Ghana, West Africa. He has lived in Brooklyn since immigrating to the United States in 2000. Mr. Sakyi is excited to begin his first year as an educator at the Eagle Academy. He graduated from Midwood High School and went on to earn a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Hunter College. Currently, he is pursuing a Master’s in Education at St. John’s University as a resident of the New York City Teacher’s Collaborative.

 In his spare time, he typically goes on long-distance bike rides, tinkering with computers and reading books. He also serves as Eagle Harlem’s Technology Coordinator.

Mr. Seku Brathwaite, Math Educator
Grade Team Leader

Mr. Brathwaite is currently the 10th-grade math teacher. He is an alumnus of the NYC Teaching Fellows. Before joining the staff of the Eagle Academy Harlem, Mr. Brathwaite taught mathematics in the Bronx at the Urban Assembly Academy of History and Citizenship for Young Men, and in Manhattan, at Frederick Douglas Academy II. He is Math for America Master Teacher Fellow and a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He has a Bachelors and Masters of Science in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University and a Master’s in Education from City College. Mr. Brathwaite is a native Harlemite who enjoys reading, exercise, and spending time with his family outside of school.

Mr. Jean Fils-Aime, Math Educator

Mr. Fils-Aime is a middle school math Educator at the Eagle Academy for Young Men of Harlem. Before joining the staff of the Eagle Academy Harlem, I taught mathematics in Brooklyn at Boys and Girls High School, and Manhattan, at JHS 164. I have a Bachelors in mathematics from University Of Haiti, Ecole Normal Superieure, and Masters in Mathematics Education from New York University.

He was born and raised in Boen Ganthier, Haiti. Mr. Fils-Aime is excited to be a part of Eagle Harlem and looks forward to supporting the growth that will be made in our young men. When Mr. Fils-Aime is not at work, he enjoys spending the time to read books and with his family.
